Il Foglio, an Italian newspaper has made history as it is first ever newspaper that is completely AI generated. At the time when media houses are claiming AI for using their content without consent, Italian newspaper has claimed to make history by publishing an edition of newspaper that is entirely AI generated.

The four page broadsheet edition of the newspaper is available online. The edition features articles on topics such as US President Donald Trump, Russian President Vladimir Putin, and Italy’s economy. The stories are clear and well structured and avoid any grammatical error. But none of the article contains any quote by human.

The newspaper, Il Foglio an Italian conservative liberal daily is launched after a month long experiment to showcase AI’s impact “on our way of working and our days”, the newspaper’s editor, Claudio Cerasa, said. “It will be the first daily newspaper in the world on newsstands created entirely using artificial intelligence,” he added.  “For everything. For the writing, the headlines, the quotes, the summaries. And, sometimes, even for the irony.” He added that journalists’ roles would be limited to “asking questions [into an AI tool] and reading the answers”.
